GasPatch 1:32 Lewis Mk.I Stripped Full Heat Sinks (2 pcs, resin) is a resin set of two aircraft Lewis machine guns with the jacket removed and the cooling fins exposed, in 1:32 scale. A convincing accessory for modelers, not an aircraft model.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of two aircraft Lewis Mk.I machine guns in the stripped version (with no cooling jacket) and with full-length cooling fins, in 1:32 scale from the Greek manufacturer GasPatch Models. The parts are cast in fine light gray resin and faithfully capture the exposed finned barrel. It is not an aircraft model but a detail accessory for more convincing armament on large models of First World War biplanes. The set is intended for experienced modelers.
The Lewis was a British air-cooled machine gun of .303 caliber with a pan magazine. During the First World War pilots and mechanics often removed the bulky cylindrical jacket to lighten the weapon and reduce drag; the exposed cooling fins remained. It is exactly this form that the set reproduces.
Wash the parts free of mold release agent, cut off the casting blocks and clean up the surfaces with respiratory protection. The fine cooling fins are fragile, so work carefully. They are bonded with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Apply a primer before painting; the metal looks best in a dark steel shade with subtle weathering.
This is an accessory resin set, not an aircraft model. It is supplied unassembled and unpainted; glue, paints and the aircraft are not included in the package.
