A set of two fixed aircraft Vickers machine guns in the British version with the Hyland Type B loading handle, containing a variant with standard and with reversed ammunition feed, in 1:32 scale from the Greek manufacturer GasPatch Models. The parts are cast in fine light gray resin and faithfully capture the body of the weapon, the cooling jacket and the feed mechanism. It is not an aircraft model but a detail accessory for the fixed forward armament of large models of First World War fighters. The set is for experienced modelers.

The real subject

The Vickers was a British aircraft machine gun of .303 caliber with a fabric belt, used as fixed synchronized armament on fighters. The Hyland loading handle was among the period modifications of the controls, and the ammunition feed was arranged in the standard or the reversed direction depending on whether the gun was installed in the wing or the fuselage - the set offers both variants.

Building and fitting tips

Wash the parts free of mold release agent, cut off the casting blocks and clean up the surfaces with respiratory protection. They are bonded with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Apply a primer before painting; the body of the weapon comes into its own in a dark steel color with fine weathering that brings out the grooves and the mechanism.
