A resin figure in 1:35 scale, shaped to be seated in a truck cab. A driver's pose is very useful when building a vehicle model: an empty cab looks static, while a figure behind the wheel gives the model both scale and action. The figure is supplied as an unpainted casting that has to be assembled, sanded and painted.

The real subject

The Studebaker US6 was an American off-road truck with drive to more than one axle, built in large numbers and supplied to the Allies. It served as a general-purpose means of transport for materiel and personnel and as a chassis for further purposes. Trucks of this type were also used by the Polish units forming on the Eastern Front, known collectively as the 1st Army of the Polish Forces. The figure depicts one of its members in the role of driver, that is, in the working dress of a vehicle crewman.

Assembly and painting tips

Wash the casting in warm soapy water, cut the casting blocks off with a saw and sand the surfaces with respiratory protection; it is glued with cyanoacrylate glue. With a seated figure the dry fit directly in the cab is essential: the angle of the legs and arms often needs a little adjustment so that the figure sits down on the seat and the hands reach the wheel. Paint the figure before gluing it into the cab, because afterward it is hard to reach. Deepen the uniform with a wash in the folds and a light dry brush on the edges. As the figure will be only partly visible through the window, concentrate the detail on the head, shoulders and hands.
