This set from ELEFANT brings a pair of idler wheels, that is the rear guide wheels, for a model of the StuG III Ausf. G assault gun in the configuration used by the Finnish army, in 1:35 scale. The parts are made by modern 3D printing in resin and the package covers one vehicle. It is not a model but a detailing accessory with which you sharpen up the matching plastic kit.

The real subject

The Sturmgeschütz III Ausf. G was the most widespread version of the German assault gun, and Finland fielded a considerable number of them during the war under the nickname Sturmi. The Finnish machines differed in details of the running gear, including the type of idler wheel, and it is exactly that which this set is aimed at.

Building and painting tips

Wash the parts free of release agent and separate them carefully from the casting blocks. Bond with cyanoacrylate glue and sand with your airways protected. It is a good idea to finish and paint the running gear before the final assembly; washes and dust or mud pigments show up well on it.
