Pmask 1:35 Flakpanzer IV Wirbelwind, a masking set

This is not a kit but a modeling accessory. The set holds self-adhesive masking templates machine-cut to the shape of the parts of one particular plastic kit of the Flakpanzer IV Wirbelwind anti-aircraft tank in 1:35 scale. The masks are stuck onto the areas that are to stay unpainted during spraying, and once the paint has dried they are carefully lifted off, leaving a cleanly bounded shape underneath.

Use

• Degrease the parts of the model and let them dry completely, and only then apply the mask.
• Press the mask down all the way round, so that paint cannot creep under the edge.
• Spray in thin coats, because a heavy coat of paint creates an unwanted step at the edge of the mask.
• Take the mask off while the paint is freshly dry, not after it has fully cured.
• Adhesive residue can be removed from the finish with a soft swab moistened with water.

The real subject

The Flakpanzer IV Wirbelwind was a German anti-aircraft tank of the Second World War built on the chassis of the Panzer IV medium tank. In place of the standard turret it carried an open multi-sided turret with quick-firing anti-aircraft armament of 2 cm caliber, intended to defend armored units against low-flying aircraft. It was built in limited numbers by converting returned chassis and was used in the closing phase of the war.
