A set of French traffic signs from the 1930s and 1940s in 1:35 scale. An accessory for a diorama that gives the scene both a place and a period.
Responsibility details are not available.
A traffic sign does for a diorama what the vehicle alone cannot: it tells the viewer where the scene takes place. French signage of the 1930s and 1940s had its own vocabulary of shapes and its own typeface, so even a single fingerpost at the roadside moves the scene from a general European road onto a particular French one. The set is in 1:35 scale, that is the most widespread scale for dioramas with ground equipment and figures.
Parts for building French traffic signs of the stated period in 1:35 scale. The number of signs, the list of them and the way they go together are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
The height of a sign matters more to the credibility of the scene than its shape. In 1:35 scale, one meter of the real thing corresponds to roughly 29 mm, so a post with a sign two meters up comes to just under six centimeters: stand a figure next to it and compare before you fix the post down. Wash and degrease the parts before painting. Do not leave the signs perfectly clean: out in the country dust from the road wears at them, so the bottom of the post takes more weathering than the top edge. Tilt one post slightly off the vertical and the diorama gains in credibility at once.
Vehicles, figures, a base, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
