An Aber 1:35 turned metal barrel for the 45 mm anti-tank gun, carried in the Wehrmacht as the Pak 184(r), replaces the plastic barrel from the kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
An Aber turned metal barrel in 1:35 scale for the 45 mm anti-tank gun, which the Wehrmacht took into its own service under the designation Pak 184(r). The suffix in the designation refers to the Soviet origin of the weapon. This is a detail accessory replacing the plastic barrel, not a kit of a gun.
The Soviet 45 mm anti-tank gun was the basic anti-tank weapon of the Red Army in the prewar and early war years. In 1941 and 1942 a great number of these guns fell into German hands. The Wehrmacht took them into its own service under the designation Pak 184(r), the letter in brackets marking a captured weapon of Soviet origin. They were used above all by second-line units and occupation garrisons, but they also turned up on improvised self-propelled chassis. For modelers this is a rewarding subject of captured vehicles.
The set replaces the plastic barrel from the kit. Cut off the original part, level the surface and try the metal barrel dry first, so that both the axis and the depth of insertion sit right. Glue with cyanoacrylate glue or epoxy; plastic cement does not work on metal. Degrease the metal before spraying and undercoat it with a primer for metal. The advantage of a turned part is a precisely drilled muzzle and a perfectly straight barrel with no mold seam that would have to be laboriously sanded.
This is a supplementary detail set for modelers, not a kit. The model itself, glue and paints are not included in the package.
