A photo-etched detail set, Schürzen, the side armor skirts, for a captured Soviet T-34/76 medium tank in 1:35 scale from Aber. It is not a tank model but a fine metal accessory for a more faithful build.
Responsibility details are not available.
This photo-etched set in 1:35 scale holds the side armor skirts, the Schürzen, as German soldiers fitted them to captured Soviet T-34/76 medium tanks in Wehrmacht service, the so-called Beutepanzer. It is neither a tank model nor a complete kit, but a fine metal detail accessory in photo-etched sheet that replaces or completes the parts of the plastic base model. The set covers the skirt panels themselves and their mounts for attaching them to the sides of the hull.
The T-34/76 was a Soviet medium tank with sloped armor, wide tracks and a 76 mm gun. A number of these vehicles fell into German hands during the fighting on the Eastern Front and were put back into service. The Schürzen side skirts protected against shaped charge and anti-tank ammunition and are a telling feature in many period photographs.
Separate the photo-etched parts with a sharp knife on a cutting surface and bend them on a sheet bending tool for clean edges. Glue with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue) or with a two-part epoxy. Degrease before painting, apply a primer and weather the surface with a wash and pigments to bring out the rivets and recesses.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The base model, glue, paints and other parts are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
