Photo-etched engine deck grilles for the German Sd.Kfz. 186 Jagdtiger self-propelled gun in 1:35 scale from Aber. Pierced metal parts replace the solid plastic covers of the cooling openings.
Responsibility details are not available.
A photo-etched detail set in 1:35 scale from the Polish manufacturer Aber for a model of the German Sd.Kfz. 186 Jagdtiger self-propelled gun. It contains the grilles and screens of the covers over the cooling vents of the engine compartment. It is not a kit of the vehicle but an accessory intended to replace plastic parts.
The Jagdtiger was the heaviest series-produced combat vehicle of the Second World War. It was created on a lengthened King Tiger chassis and carried a 128 mm anti-tank gun in a fixed casemate with thick frontal armor. Only a few dozen were built, and in the field they suffered most from weight and from the unreliability of the drivetrain, whose cooling was handled by the large vents at the rear.
Sand away the solid surfaces of the plastic covers and leave the surrounding frame for the photo-etched part. Separate the parts with a sharp knife and make the bends in a bending tool. Degrease the metal, apply a primer for metals and paint with an airbrush. Spray the surface under the grille dark, so that the piercing looks deep and the grille does not look like mere relief.
This is a detail accessory, not a complete model. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package.
