This is a complete detail set from the Polish manufacturer Aber, not a model of a tank. The package joins fine photo-etched frets with turned metal parts and wire sections for a model of the Israeli tank Tiran 5. The metal features replace the fenders, the grilles, the brackets, the mounts and other small fittings for which injected plastic is too thick for the scale.
The Tiran 5 came about in the Israeli army by rebuilding captured Soviet tanks of the T-54 and T-55 families. The vehicles went through modifications after Israeli practice: they received new stowage baskets and bins for gear, revised hatches, different machine gun armament and other features adapted to local conditions and logistics. Some of the vehicles were later rearmed with a 105 mm gun of Western design. The Tirans served in Israeli units in the 1970s and today they are a popular modeling subject thanks to their striking and unmistakable silhouette.
Trim the parts off with a sharp knife, bend them on a photo-etch bending tool or along a ruler and glue them with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Degrease the metal and go over it with a primer. Israeli vehicles tended to be heavily dusted, so pigment and dust weathering on the running gear and the fenders stands out at the end.
An accessory for a plastic kit. The model itself, glue and paints are not included in the package.
