This set from Eduard in 1:35 scale serves to render Zimmerit faithfully on a model of the German Tiger II heavy tank, nicknamed the King Tiger, in its early production form. Zimmerit was an anti-magnetic coating paste with a characteristic texture applied to the armor of German vehicles; this set imitates it with pre-formed parts that are stuck onto the surface of the model. It is not a kit on its own but a detail accessory. Eduard is a Czech maker of modeling accessories.
The Tiger II was a German heavy tank from the end of the Second World War, heavily armored and armed with an 88 mm gun. Zimmerit was used on German vehicles in the middle phase of the war as protection against magnetic mines, and it created an unmistakable ridged texture on the armor.
The parts of the set are laid onto the matching surfaces of the model and glued with thin cement; the edges are worked in so that the texture runs on smoothly. Degrease the surface before painting and apply a primer. The texture of the Zimmerit comes out beautifully once washes and pigments have been applied.
This is an accessory detail set, not a complete model. It requires the matching plastic kit; glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package.
