An injection-molded plastic kit of the Soviet KV-2 heavy tank in 1:35 scale from the Japanese maker Tamiya. The model captures the characteristic massive box-shaped turret with a 152 mm howitzer set on the chassis of the KV-1. It offers a choice of open or closed hatches, figures and marking options; check the exact contents against the particular box.
The KV-2 was a Soviet heavy tank developed in parallel with the KV-1, from which it took its chassis. Its recognition feature was the tall box-shaped turret with a 152 mm howitzer intended to destroy fortifications. Its high weight brought frequent transmission failures at the beginning of the German-Soviet war in 1941, yet there were cases in which a single KV-2 held up the advance of a whole German unit. It is an iconic and unmistakable subject.
First assemble and paint the running gear, and only then close the hull — the wheels and the tracks are hard to reach afterwards. Glue the plastic with liquid modeling cement, unify the base with a primer and spray the base green with an airbrush. Decide in advance whether you will leave the hatches open. The weathering is provided by dark washes in the detail and dust pigments on the massive running gear.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
