The Quickwheel 1:35 masking set for the road wheels of the M1A2 SEP V2 Abrams tank is cut for the Voiio kit. It masks out the wheel rims so the tire band can be sprayed in one go.

An accessory for painting from Quickwheel, not a kit. You stick the masks onto the wheels from the box and spray the tire bands with an airbrush with no masking out by hand. According to its name the set is cut for the Voiio kit; wheel masks are always tied to a particular molding, because the diameter of the wheel and the width of the tire band differ between manufacturers.
The Abrams rides on torsion bars and carries seven large road wheels with a pronounced rubber tire band on each side, the drive sprocket at the rear and the idler wheel at the front. The essential point is that the whole running gear is covered by heavy side plates and only the lower part of the wheels stays visible. That tempts you into skimping on them — except that this narrow strip is at the viewer's eye level on a finished model. The wheels also have to be finished before you fit the plates, or you can no longer reach the tire bands with an airbrush. A large wheel diameter also means a long circumference, along which a hand-drawn line holds worse than on the small wheels of German vehicles.
Level the wheels, degrease them and spray the base shade. Apply the mask to a perfectly dry finish and press the whole circumference down carefully. Spray square and in thin coats. Choose a tire band shade toward a dark gray; on a sandy ground the running surface will dust over quickly anyway, so the pigments have the last word. Take the masks off while the paint has flashed off, and only then fit the side plates.
