The Quickwheel 1:35 masking set for the road wheels of the M551A1 and M551A1 TTS Sheridan tank is cut for the Rye Field Model kit. It separates the tire band from the wheel rim while spraying.

A set of masks from Quickwheel for painting the wheels you have in your kit. It is not a replacement running gear or a kit. Its name ties it to the Rye Field Model kit, and with this type of product that is the key detail — a mask has to seat exactly on the wheel of a given molding, or the tire band transition will come out crooked.
The Sheridan has an unusually simple running gear among tracked vehicles. Five road wheels run on torsion bars on each side, the drive sprocket is at the front and the idler wheel at the rear — and, above all, there are no return rollers here; the upper run of the track rides directly on the road wheels. That means two things: there are few wheels, so their finish can be managed more carefully, but at the same time they are all the more visible, because nothing gets in the way above them and the light aluminum hull leaves them exposed practically along their whole length. An unfinished tire band cannot be hidden here.
Clear the seams off the wheels first and spray the base shade of the hull. Apply the mask to a dry finish, press it down around the circumference and spray the tire band square, in thin coats. Because the upper run of the track lies on the wheels, finish the wheels before you fit the track. Once the masks are off, a light deposit of dust with pigments helps, so the sharp edge does not look too technical.
This is a masking accessory. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
