Responsibility details are not available.
This injection-molded plastic kit in 1:35 scale from Trumpeter captures the German heavy self-propelled siege mortar Mörser Karl-Gerät 040/041 in its early form (Initial Version), set on a railway transport car. The package holds metal axles, springs and photo-etched parts. The model is supplied as a set of parts to be assembled and painted.
The self-propelled Karl siege mortar was among the heaviest German artillery weapons of the Second World War. Development began in the second half of the 1930s and six production vehicles were delivered in 1940 and 1941. The original barrels of 60 cm caliber (Gerät 040) were later supplemented by barrels of 54 cm caliber (Gerät 041). Given its enormous weight, the mortar was moved over longer distances by rail on a special transport car.
Build this extensive model in subgroups: the running gear of the mortar, the barrel, the hull and the railway car. Glue the plastic with thin modeling cement, and the metal and photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate glue. An airbrush and a base coat have proved themselves; you will bring the German camouflage scheme to life with a wash, filters and dust pigments. The assembly of the mortar on its car will stand out on a display base.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
