A posted-up poster is a light, contrasting area in a scene that the eye finds immediately. Make use of that: place a poster where you want to direct the viewer, typically beside an entrance, at the place of the action or behind the figure who is the main character of the display. An area flooded with posters side by side, on the contrary, scatters attention and the scene loses its center of gravity. The rule of one dominant poster and several smaller ones, partly covered or torn, which add depth without competing for attention, proves itself.
A poster gives figures a reason to act. A person turned toward a notice board, a pair pointing at a poster or a rider stopped by a post creates a bond between two otherwise unrelated elements. Derive the height of posting from the height of the figures, not from the free area of the wall; a poster posted too high gives away at once that the scale was not worked with.
Cut with a new blade, glue with a thin layer of PVA or matte glue applied to the undercoat. On rough wood dampen the paper from the back and press it down, so that it follows the relief and the boards show through beneath it. A torn-off corner, a darkened edge and a fine wash in the places where water would run down turn fresh printing into a posted-up poster. At the end unify it all with matte clear coat.
