A small add-on set of two cast road wheels matching the Panther Ausf. D version of the tank in 1:35 scale from ELEFANT. It is neither a kit nor a vehicle model: these are two separate parts intended for detailing a model that is already built or under construction. The base model is not included in the package.
Spare wheels are used on models in two ways. The first is purely a repair: they replace a damaged or badly molded part from the box, or make up for a wheel that disappeared under the table during the build. The second is a building use: separate wheels are placed on the model as carried spares or as part of the equipment of a diorama, for instance a repair scene. A casting usually renders the shape of the disc and the hub more crisply than an injection-molded part, so it also works where the wheel is seen up close.
Before you start, wash the castings in lukewarm water with detergent so that no mold release agent is left on the surface, because primer will not hold on a greasy surface. Cut the casting block off with a saw, never snap it off, and sand the remainder wet with respiratory protection. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue); cement for polystyrene does not hold on castings. Paint the wheel separately: a base shade, a darker wash into the recesses of the disc and a dry brush on the edges. Set the rubber tire apart with a dark, matte tone. If you are placing the wheel as a carried spare, give it a slightly heavier dust finish than the rest of the vehicle.
This is an accessory for detailing a model, not a standalone kit. The base model, glue, paints and tools are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
