A pre-cut self-adhesive masking set in 1:35 scale for the Pantsir-S1 missile and gun air defense system. It is not a kit but an accessory for a model you already own. The set is cut for the kit from Tiger Model — a mask of the same name for the Zvezda kit exists as a separate item, so the target kit is the only distinguishing detail here and has to be watched when ordering.
The Pantsir-S1 sits on a heavy wheeled chassis, so the masking work falls into two very different parts. The first is the cab of the chassis: flat panes of glazing in thick frames and side vision ports, where tape is hard to hold in a single run. The second is the wheels — large off-road tires on which the rubber has to be separated from the painted rim all the way round and to the same width on every piece. On top of that comes the combat module with its antennas and optical faces, which are meant to stay clean once the paint is on. It is exactly this combination of flat panes and many circles that makes the Pantsir a model where a pre-cut mask pays off most.
Before you peel the backing paper off, offer the mask up dry and compare the cut with the frames of the glazing and with the diameters of the wheels. With two almost identically named sets for two different kits this check is essential — if the cut does not fit, you probably have the set for the other kit. Degrease the surfaces, center the circular masks on the hubs of the wheels and tap the edge down with a blunt toothpick all the way round. Spray in thin coats and take the masks off while the paint has only just dried.
