About product

Tool clamps for the Panzer I Ausf. B, 1:35 scale (AMMO of Mig Jimenez)

This is an accessory set of small resin parts, not a kit. It contains the brackets and clamps that hold the pioneer tools on the hull and the fenders of the Panzer I light tank in the Ausf. B version. Compared with the Ausf. A, the Ausf. B had a lengthened hull and a reworked running gear, and the layout of the tools changed with it, which is why the manufacturer lists the two versions as separate items. The manufacturer is the Spanish company AMMO of Mig Jimenez.

What the parts do on the real vehicle

The clamps are small metal brackets with a catch or a wing nut that hold the shovel, the pickaxe, the crowbar or the fire extinguisher in place. An injection mold cannot cast them thin enough, so on the model they look like heavy blocks. The resin replacement is much finer and lifts the impression of the whole vehicle at close range: on the small Panzer I the fenders are a large part of the visible surface.

Usage and painting tips

Wash the castings in lukewarm water with dish soap so that no mold release agent is left on the surface. Cut the casting blocks off with a sharp knife or a fine saw, not with nippers, because small parts break in them. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue); the gel version gives you time to align the part. Painting is easier if the clamps and the tools are painted off the model and fitted only once the base coat on the hull has dried. The metal parts are worth darkening with a light edge highlight, while the wooden handles are done with a glaze over a light base.

Who the set is for

  • Builders of the Panzer I Ausf. B model in 1:35 scale
  • Modelers who want to replace the coarse plastic clamps with finer ones
  • Anyone interested in detailing the fenders and the hull
  • Modelers used to working with tweezers and small resin parts

This is an accessory set, not a kit. The base model, the tools, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.

FAQ

The Ausf. B had a longer hull and a reworked running gear, and the layout of the tools changed with it. The manufacturer therefore lists the two versions as separate items. Choose according to the version you are building.

The model is not included. The name speaks of the clamps; whether the package also holds castings of the tools themselves is something to check on the packaging, so do not count on it automatically.

With cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Plastic cement has no effect on resin and the joint would not hold.

Yes. Paint holds far better on washed and primed resin than on the bare, smooth surface of a casting.
