The description basic set means that it covers the main external details of the hull and the turret: the grilles, the covers, the fenders, the grab handles and the brackets. Thin metal replaces plastic where its thickness is most visible. It is not a kit of the vehicle but an addition to a plastic model.
The BMP-3 is a Russian amphibious tracked infantry fighting vehicle taken into service at the end of the 1980s. Its combined armament is unusual: a large-caliber gun with a low muzzle velocity, a coaxial autocannon of smaller caliber and machine guns, all in one turret. The engine is housed at the rear, which affects the layout of the whole hull as well as how the crew gets in and out. Vehicles committed in later conflicts were often fitted with kits of add-on armor on the sides and the front, which changes the silhouette of the vehicle, and that is exactly what makes this version interesting for modelers.
Cut the parts out with a scalpel on a hard surface and make the bends in a bending tool, so that the edge is straight. Dose the cyanoacrylate glue in a minimal amount with the tip of a wire. Apply a primer before painting. On a vehicle with add-on armor it pays to paint the surfaces that the panels will cover first and only then to set the panels in place, otherwise untreated gaps will remain in view. A tracked vehicle gets dirty differently from a wheeled one: concentrate the mud on the bottom of the hull, the tracks and the fenders, and add dust on the upper surfaces.
This is an accessory set, not a kit of the vehicle. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
