A plastic kit of the German Sd.Kfz.165 Hummel heavy self-propelled gun in the late production form in 1:35 scale from the manufacturer Tamiya. The model brings newly shaped parts for the upper hull, the fighting compartment and the gun, along with the familiar Tamiya precision of fit. Three figures shown loading the gun and a decal sheet with two marking options are included.
The Hummel, meaning bumblebee, was a German heavy self-propelled gun that carried a 15 cm howitzer in an open armored superstructure on a common chassis derived from the Panzer III and IV tanks. It served as mobile artillery support for armored divisions from 1943. The late production version differed in details of the superstructure and of the driver's compartment.
The open fighting compartment leaves the interior and the gun on show, so work them out and paint them before closing it up. The late type of tracks allows a realistic sag of the upper run. Use liquid cement for plastic, a primer and an airbrush; washes and dust weathering will bring the superstructure and the chassis to life. The three crew figures will add life to the scene.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
