An injection-molded plastic kit of the German light reconnaissance armored car Sd.Kfz.221 in the third production series, in 1:35 scale, made by Hobby Boss. The model offers a detailed upper and lower hull with sloped armor, a small open turret, a fully fitted interior and four rubber tires. According to the manufacturer, photo-etched parts and a decal sheet are included. Slide-molding technology gives a clean impression of the hull edges.
The Sd.Kfz.221 was a German light four-wheeled armored car with all-wheel drive, built from the middle of the 1930s. It was based on a Horch chassis with a gasoline engine of around 90 horsepower and reached a road speed of around 80 km/h. It served mainly for reconnaissance; the crew was protected by light sloped armor and a machine gun was carried in the small open turret. Thanks to its low weight and good mobility it was deployed in the opening campaigns of the Second World War.
Paint the chassis and the fully fitted hull interior before you close up the upper parts. Glue the parts with thin cement for plastic and the photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate. Apply a primer and airbrush German gray (Panzergrau) for the early period or the later dark yellow. A wash into the recesses, edge highlighting and dust pigments on the tires and the chassis will provide the weathering.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
