The Quickwheel 1:35 Sherman M50, M51 HVSS masking set is cut for the kit from Dragon and serves to paint the road wheels of the HVSS running gear precisely.
Responsibility details are not available.
A self-adhesive masking set for painting the road wheels of the Sherman M50 and M51 tanks with HVSS suspension in 1:35 scale, cut for the kit from Dragon. The mask covers the rubber band and the rim is sprayed over with the vehicle color. It is neither a kit nor a part of the model.
Painting the wheels is not the final stop. On almost every model of armored equipment a wash follows the base coat, running into the recesses, and then dust or mud. And the wash is the test that reveals the quality of the earlier work. The dark solution catches not only in the scribed lines but in every unevenness on the border between band and rim. Wherever you lined the circle with a brush and a step formed, the wash settles and optically thickens the border — instead of a fine division you get a heavy dark outline. A flat transition from a mask, by contrast, lets the wash run only where it belongs: into the gap between band and rim. Let the paint cure properly before the wash and use a separating coat of varnish so the solution cannot bite into it. Wipe the excess off around the circumference of the wheel, not across it, so the border is not smeared.
Paint the wheel in the rubber shade, mask it once it has dried, spray the rim over twice and lift the mask off as soon as the paint has flashed off. Only then the varnish, the wash and the dust.
This is a masking set. Paints, the kit and further accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
