A photo-etched metal detail set for building up a plastic kit of a Soviet KV series heavy tank in 1:35 scale from the manufacturer Aber. The set sharpens the external side fuel tanks with a true sheet thickness, brackets and securing straps that the kit's plastic parts cannot capture. This is an accessory, not a standalone model.
The KV series heavy tanks, the KV-1 and the KV-2, formed the backbone of the Soviet heavy units at the start of the Great Patriotic War. The auxiliary side tanks extended the range and are characteristic of the silhouette of these machines.
Nip the parts out of the photo-etched fret and clean them up, make the bends on a bending tool or along the scored lines, and glue them with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Degrease the metal before painting and go over it with a coat of primer for adhesion. Shape the cylindrical forms of the tanks over a metal rod or a drill bit of a suitable diameter.
