This set is not a model of the carrier but an accessory: resin castings of road wheels with steel discs with which you replace the plastic parts from the base kit of an M113 series armored personnel carrier. Cast wheels usually have a sharper rendering of the disc and of the tread than the standard plastic, and they are clearly visible on a finished model, because the running gear is one of the first places a viewer looks. The number of pieces in the pack is stated on the box; work out in advance how many wheels you need for your model.
The M113 is an American tracked armored personnel carrier introduced at the end of the 1950s. Thanks to its light welded construction, simple maintenance and large internal space it became one of the most widespread vehicles of its kind, and a long line of derivatives grew out of it, from command and ambulance versions to weapon carriers. Various types of road wheel appeared on the machines of this family during service; the version with the steel disc is among those that modelers often need to add.
First wash the resin parts in lukewarm soapy water so that the mold release residue disappears, otherwise the paint will not hold. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw or a knife, level the surface and protect your airways when sanding; resin dust is not to be breathed in. They are bonded with super glue (cyanoacrylate), as cement for plastic has no effect on resin. Apply a primer coat before painting. Finish painting the wheels before fitting them, use a dark wash on the discs and finally dust them with pigments according to the setting you are placing the model in.
The set is an accessory for a base kit and is supplied unpainted. Glue, paints and the model itself are not included in the package.
