1:35 T-34/85 - The Battle of Berlin

Decals for the T-34/85 from the fighting for Berlin

This decal sheet in 1:35 scale is intended for a model of the Soviet T-34/85 medium tank and is tied to the closing fighting for Berlin in the spring of 1945. Markings are what sets otherwise identical models apart, and on a vehicle from one particular operation they give the build a clear setting.

The real subject

The T-34/85 is a late stage in the development of the Soviet T-34 medium tank. Compared with older machines it received a larger three-man turret and a heavier 85 mm gun, so the commander no longer had to work the weapon at the same time and could concentrate on directing the fight. In the last year of the war it was the most numerous Soviet medium tank and it appeared in the streets of Berlin in great numbers.

How to apply the decals

• Even out the area under the decal with gloss varnish; silvering shows up easily on a matte surface.
• Cut the decal out close to the subject and dip it in lukewarm water for a moment.
• As soon as it releases from the backing paper, move it onto the model and settle it in its final position.
• A decal softener will help the decal cling to rivets and sharp edges.
• Once it has dried, coat the whole thing with matte varnish so that the edge of the film disappears.

What the delivery contains

This is a decal sheet on its own, that is an accessory for a kit. The tank model, the paints, the varnishes and the decal softener are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise. The manufacturer's instructions give the exact application procedure.
