T-72 wheel masks in 1:35 scale from Quickwheel for painting the rubber tires of the road wheels of the kit from Zvezda.
Responsibility details are not available.
A masking accessory for painting road wheels, not a kit. The set sets the boundary between the rubber tire and the disk, so you can apply the paint by spraying and do not have to draw the line around with a brush.
The set is cut for the wheels of the T-72 kit from Zvezda. Wheel masks follow from the dimensions of a particular part, so they need not line up on a kit of another brand – verify, therefore, which kit you are building.
On one wheel the difference between a mask and drawing around by hand is small – a patient modeler will manage it with a brush as well. But a tracked vehicle has several road wheels on each side and in addition the idler and the drive sprocket, and on some machines the inner side is painted too. The work therefore does not grow by one wheel, but by every visible area, and with it grows the probability that at least one wheel will not come out well.
That is the heart of the matter: drawing around by hand has its own error on every wheel and those errors do not cancel out but add up. Ten wheels mean ten differently wide bands of rubber and the unevenness is noticeable on a finished running gear even from a distance. A mask, by contrast, gives the same line every time, so with a growing number of wheels the ratio between the cost of the set and the time saved quickly improves. On a vehicle with a rich running gear the set therefore makes the most sense. Work in series while doing so – put masks on all the wheels at once, spray them in one sitting and only then lift the masks.
It is a masking accessory for modelers. The package holds neither a kit, wheels nor paints. Store the sheet flat and out of direct sunlight.
