An Aber photo-etched metal detail set in 1:35 scale. It holds the Turmschürzen turret protective plates for the Panzer III medium tank, together with their mounts. They replace the thicker plastic parts and give the turret a realistic sheet thickness as well as fine brackets.
The Turmschürzen turret skirts were fitted around the turret on later German tanks as added protection against armor-piercing and shaped charge ammunition. On the Panzer III they complemented the side plates of the hull and are a conspicuous element of the vehicle's silhouette.
The photo-etched metal parts are thin and small, so separate them with a sharp knife on a cutting surface and bend them over a metal ruler or a photo-etch bending tool. Glue with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue), as cement for plastic does not hold on metal. Degrease the metal before painting and go over it with a coat of primer so that the finish holds; at the end a fine wash and pigments help to pick out the detail.
This is a detail accessory, not a standalone model. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
