A scenic accessory for a diorama in 1:35 scale: British trench signs from the period of the First World War.
Responsibility details are not available.
The trench system of the Western Front was extensive and confusing, so the soldiers marked it out for themselves. Individual trenches and communication passages were given names, signs pointing to a dressing station or to a command post hung at junctions, and warnings appeared in exposed places. These signs are today among the most rewarding details of dioramas from the First World War, because they give a scene a story without a single extra figure.
It suits a trench scene, the edge of a trench or the bend of a communication passage, where it naturally draws the eye. It also works well in a small display case scene with one or two figures, where it takes the place of more extensive terrain building.
The signs look believable only once they are not perfect. Leave them slightly tilted, and one of them may well be partly loose from its mounting. Prepare the post or the peg according to how the sign is to stand; choose the way of fixing and a suitable glue according to the material of the accessory and the manufacturer's instructions. Try any touching up of the color or dirtying on a spare piece first, so that you know how the material reacts to the paint.
The set is intended for builders of dioramas and scenes in 1:35 scale focused on the First World War. It will also be appreciated by those who want to liven a finished trench scene up with a small element.
It is a scenic accessory. A base, terrain, figures, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
