About product

Panther Ausf. F 1:35: photo-etched set from E.T. Model

This is not a model of a vehicle but a photo-etched detail set intended to improve a plastic kit of the Panther Ausf. F in 1:35 scale. Metal sheet makes it possible to produce elements that are thin in reality: the grilles of the cooling openings, the fenders and their folding parts, the tool clamps, the eyes, the hinges and the hatch latches. The result is a model that stands up even to close inspection and to photography.

The real subject

The Panther Ausf. F was the final stage in the development of the German medium tank. Its most conspicuous feature was a new narrow turret with thicker frontal armor and a smaller area exposed to hits, designed at the same time with easier production in mind. By the end of the war this variant had not reached full series production, and what survived were mainly hulls and turrets under construction. That is precisely why the Ausf. F is among the prized subjects sought after by modelers, often built as a what-if.

Usage and painting tips

Leave the parts on the fret for as long as possible and cut them off only before gluing, otherwise they are easily lost. Make the bends along the pressed score lines, and on long parts work gradually in sections. Glue with cyanoacrylate glue applied in a microscopic amount. Degrease the metal before painting and spray it with a primer for metal. Late German vehicles not infrequently wore a simply applied camouflage, which benefits from a preshade, soft transitions between the shades and a final emphasis of the edges and the engraving.

Who the set is for

  • Builders of German armor in 1:35 scale
  • Modelers interested in late development variants and prototypes
  • More experienced builders used to working with photo-etch
  • Competition entrants, where the fineness of the detail decides

The package contains only photo-etched parts. The base kit, glue, paints and other accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.

FAQ

It is not. It is a photo-etched set of details; the plastic kit itself has to be bought separately.

Above all the narrow turret with thicker frontal armor. By the end of the war the variant had not reached full series production.

It calls for a sharp tool, tweezers and calm. We recommend it to modelers who already have experience of fine building.

With cyanoacrylate glue, or else by soldering. Degrease the metal before painting and use a base coat for metal.
