A photo-etched refining set from the Czech manufacturer Eduard in 1:350 scale. It is the fifth part of a series of photo-etch for the USS Iwo Jima, aimed specifically at the life rafts and their stowage along the sides of the ship. It is not a kit but a set of brass parts that replaces the simplified plastic elements with more accurate photo-etched ones.
USS Iwo Jima (LHD-7) is an American Wasp-class multipurpose amphibious assault ship. She serves as a floating base for helicopters, tiltrotors and landing craft. Around the edge of the deck she carries a great number of canisters with life rafts, which are clearly visible on the model, so refining them is worth the effort.
Separate the small parts from the fret and bend them carefully into shape. They are bonded with a small amount of super glue. Given how fine the rafts are, we recommend tweezers and a magnifier; degrease the parts and spray them with primer before painting.
This is a refining accessory, not a complete model. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
