About product

A6M3 Zero (Hamp) cockpit set 1:48 (SBS Model)

This resin cockpit set in 1:48 scale from SBS Model raises the detail of the cockpit of a model of the Japanese carrier fighter the Mitsubishi A6M3 Zero in the version with squared-off wingtips, designated Hamp by the Allies. It is an accessory, not a complete model. The resin parts replace the simplified interior from the base kit.

The real subject

The Mitsubishi A6M Zero was the main Japanese carrier fighter of the Second World War, famed for its long range and its agility. The A6M3 Model 32 version had clipped, squared-off wingtips and the Allies assigned it the code name Hamp. The cockpit of these machines had a characteristic instrument layout, which this set captures.

Building and painting tips

Wash the mold release residue off the resin parts, cut off the casting blocks and clean up the surfaces with respiratory protection. Bond with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Paint the interior before closing the fuselage and pick out the details with a wash and a dry brush for a three-dimensional look.

Who the set is for

  • Builders of A6M3 Zero models in 1:48 scale
  • Modelers who want a faithful cockpit detail with the canopy open
  • Anyone interested in the Imperial Japanese Navy Air Service of the Second World War
  • Advanced modelers used to working with resin

This is a resin detail set, not a complete model. The base kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
