Decals in 1:48 for two Marauders: a machine of the 391st Bombardment Group with the nickname Dina Might and a second aircraft with a female personal marking.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Martin B-26 medium bomber earned a reputation as a dangerous machine before it had a chance to disprove it. High wing loading meant a fast landing approach and the crews mistrusted it at first. But once the training settled down and the span grew on later series, the type was among the machines with the lowest combat losses in the whole Ninth Air Force.
The sheet covers two aircraft of the B-26B version. One carries a personal marking with a female motif and a serial number from the 42-95 block; the second flew with the 573rd Bombardment Squadron of the 391st Bombardment Group under the name Dina Might. Both paintings came about in the period when Marauders were operating from English bases against targets in occupied France and the Netherlands.
What to watch out for: the female motif on the nose lies on a markedly curved area. It pays to warm the film after settling it with a heat gun on a low setting, or once dry to score it with small pricks and treat it with a decal softener again, leaving it undisturbed for at least forty-five minutes. Only then is the surface varnished.
Anyone building a Marauder for the first time will appreciate that the sheet offers two complete variants at once. You can therefore attempt the more demanding artwork on the nose and, if it fails, reach for the second set without looking for replacement decals from another supplier. Leftover motifs also come in useful in reserve for later builds.
