Six American Canberras in 1:48 scale: training jammers for air defense, a reconnaissance and a weather machine, and a colorful anniversary scheme from 1976.
Responsibility details are not available.
The twin-engine jet bomber that came about on the islands won such respect that the United States took it into service and built it under license. The American version received a different canopy, different equipment and above all a long line of special modifications. It is precisely those later, non-combat roles that make up the content of this sheet.
Six machines, four missions. Most of them are aircraft that trained the crews of ground air defense: they transmitted jamming signals, imitated an air raid and checked whether the radar operators could pick the target up and evaluate it in time. Two machines belonged to an Air National Guard squadron from New England, and one carries a colorful finish for the bicentennial of the United States in 1976. They are completed by a reconnaissance version and a weather service machine from a squadron that flew to collect samples at high altitudes.
Building notes. The package holds the decals in 1:48 scale only; the kit has to be obtained separately. With this type most of the work hides in the long wing and in the transition of the engine nacelles, where the decals run over edges and engraving; a gloss intermediate coat and patient shaping with decal softener pay off. The anniversary scheme has extensive areas of color, so spray a light base first and only then apply them, otherwise every unevenness will show under the thin decal.
