1:35 Korean Road Signs Type.2

Tetra Model Works 1:35 Korean Road Signs Type.2

The second set of Korean-pattern road signage in 1:35 scale. It is a diorama accessory for military scenes, not a vehicle kit. According to the name it is the Type.2 release, that is the continuation of the range that begins with the Type.1 set; the two can be used side by side, so the same sign need not stand twice on one diorama. The range also exists in a version for 1:24 scale.

What the set suits

Signage belongs among the elements that make sense of a scene with a minimum of work. Military vehicles on their own do not say where the action takes place; a road sign gives it away at once. At the same time it adds a vertical line to an otherwise flat composition and fills the empty verge, which tends to be the hardest spot in a diorama. It works at checkpoints, intersections, village entries and beside a column on the move.

Usage tips

• Sink the post into the groundwork so it looks anchored, and watch that it stands vertically
• Turn the lettered face toward the viewer, not toward the model
• Apply dust and mud only at the foot of the post, and blend the upper part with its surroundings by fading instead
• Measure the height against a figure so it holds the scale of the whole scene
• Combine the Type.1 and Type.2 sets, but do not crowd the scene with signs

Who the set is for

For builders of military dioramas in 1:35 scale, for modelers who want to show vehicles in a setting, and for anyone interested in the Korean battlefield. It also works well as an additional backdrop when photographing finished vehicles and figures.
