The G-10 designation did not arise as a new design but as an attempt to sort out the chaos in the factories. In the autumn of 1944 the repair shops were given the task of bringing older G-series airframes together and fitting them with a 605 series engine with supplementary injection, which held its power above seven kilometers considerably better than the older units. The result was the fastest production Bf 109 that reached the units and, at the same time, a machine on which two examples from different shops could differ in the shape of their covers.
Above the pilot's head sits a clear cover with no thick center brace, which the shops introduced for the sake of the view on landing. The fin tends to be tall and wooden, the tailwheel no longer retracts into the fuselage and two prominent bulges were added on the engine cowling above the breeches of the heavy machine guns. Anyone building this version must not confuse it with the later K form, which has the bulges relocated and the filler points elsewhere. With units defending the territory of the Reich the G-10 served from the winter of 1944 to the last days of the war.
The films mask the glazing from outside and inside, which is useful precisely with a clear teardrop without a brace, where the framing is visible from both sides. One national insignia stencil is enclosed, that is fewer than with neighboring items of the same series. The inner frame therefore does not have to be cleaned of bled paint afterwards, which with a closed cockpit is impossible anyway.
Before the build, compare the shape with the clear part of your model. Neither plastic parts nor paints are in the bag.
