A set of markings from the Czech manufacturer HGW for models of the Messerschmitt Bf 109 G-6 and G-14 fighters in 1:48 scale, made as wet transfers. Unlike ordinary decals, no carrier film stays on the model: only the color of the emblem or the lettering itself is transferred to the surface, so the markings look sprayed on and leave no visible edge on gloss or matte surfaces. It is not a kit but an accessory for a model that is already built.
The term Reichsverteidigung is used for the system of fighter defense of the German homeland in the closing stage of the Second World War. The aircraft of the units involved carried conspicuous colored identification bands on the rear fuselage, by which an aircraft could be assigned to its unit even in flight. It is these bands that make up the content of the set, together with the national insignia and other markings. For a modeler they are one of the most demanding elements of a scheme, because the band runs right around the fuselage and is hard to join up when masked by hand.
Transfers need a smooth, glossy base. Spray the surface with a gloss clear coat and, once it has dried, smooth it with very fine abrasive paper of roughly 6000 to 8000 grit. The surface has to be clean, degreased and free of dust. The transfer is laid on, moistened, and the carrier paper is taken off once the motif has transferred. Work in smaller sections, because a transferred motif cannot be moved as easily as an ordinary decal. Finally cover the finished markings with a matte or semi-matte varnish, according to the look you want.
This is an accessory, not a kit. The model, paints and varnishes are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
