Boeing B-17F Flying Fortress is a set of self-adhesive masking templates in 1:48 scale from the Czech manufacturer Eduard. It is not a kit and not a photo-etched set, but masks for painting the extensive glazing of a bomber.

An important distinction here: this item is a set of masks, not a kit of the aircraft and not a photo-etched set either. The contents are preshaped templates cut out of yellow kabuki tape, which are stuck onto the glazed surfaces before spraying. Goods of another kind are offered under the same name, that is, photo-etched parts and decals, so go by the fact that what you are buying here are masks. Masking sets of this type cover the glazing and as a rule the tires of the wheels as well; check the exact range against the illustration on the packaging.
The B-17F is one of the aircraft on which the masking is genuinely laborious. The four-engined bomber has a glazed nose, a pilot cabin, side windows, gun turrets and further glazed surfaces, so there would be dozens of masks cut by hand and every inaccuracy shows on a large model. Machine-cut templates shorten the work to sticking and pressing down and assure a straight edge and the same shape on all the windows. Alongside this set the manufacturer also lists a variant designated TFace, in which the masks are prepared for both the outer and the inner side of the glazing; this set is the standard one.
Lift the masks off with a scalpel or tweezers and touch them with your fingers as little as possible, so that they keep their tack. Once each mask is stuck down, press it along its whole perimeter, ideally with a wooden toothpick, so that paint does not run under the edge. Apply the paint in several thin layers and take the mask off while it is only tacky, with a pull at an angle back over itself, not straight up. Degrease the glazing before sticking, otherwise the tape will not hold.
The set holds masks only. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
