The set serves for masking the wheels while painting. It is not a kit or replacement wheels, only an aid thanks to which a sharp border is created between tire and rim. The shape of the masks matches the parts of the Tamiya kits.
This is not tracked equipment but a small utility vehicle derived from a passenger car, and the wheels are in keeping. They are small, simple, one on each side of each axle, and their rim is smooth and plain compared with military cargo vehicles. That is precisely why masking is more demanding than it seems: on a smooth rim there is no scribed line or lip to rest the edge against, so painting by hand usually produces a slightly oval, not quite concentric edge. The wheels are also largely covered by fenders, so what is visible is mainly the outer disc and whatever shows of the tire. A vehicle of this type tends to come with a spare wheel, which is clearly visible in the result and is worth giving the same care as the wheels on the axles.
Leave the wheels separate from the chassis and fit them only once they are painted; on a vehicle this small that is the quickest route. Before you start, lay the masks on the parts on the sprue and check the diameter. Washing in lukewarm water with dish soap and honest degreasing follow, because a small wheel offers a mask only a small area. A thin primer evens the surface out and highlights the marks of the mold parting line on the running surface, which are better sanded down before painting. Only then spray the tire shade, paint the disc in once it is unmasked, and finally fit everything to the axles.
The package contains masks only. The kit, paints and glue are not part of it, unless stated otherwise.
