The set offers replacement landing gear wheels for a model of the upgraded MiG-29 SMT fighter in 1:72 scale. It is a resin accessory from the Ukrainian manufacturer Reskit, not a model of an aircraft. It is precisely in the small scale that it pays off: a casting holds a crisp tread pattern and the divisions of the hub where an injection mold rounds the detail off.
The MiG-29 SMT is the upgraded branch of the MiG-29 frontline fighter. Its characteristic feature is the enlarged dorsal spine behind the cockpit, which carries a greater internal fuel load and extends the range. The upgrade also covered the avionics and the cockpit equipment and widened the options for external armament. The landing gear stayed rugged, suited to operating from lower-grade surfaces as well.
Wash the parts in soapy water, cut away the casting blocks and level the surface with a file; it is best to sand wet. They are glued with cyanoacrylate. Hold the small parts in this scale with tweezers and work over a light-colored surface. Paint the tire a dark gray and the hub separately, and finish with a thin wash that emphasizes the pattern without clogging the detail.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted and is not a stand-alone model. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
