An aftermarket accessory of photo-etched metal for the plastic kit of the vehicle given in the name of the product. The set is sold separately and does not hold a kit. It is made by the Czech brand Hauler, which has long specialized in accessories for 1:35, 1:48 and 1:144 scales.
The BZ-38 was a Soviet airfield fuel tanker, that is, a truck with a tank, a pump and hose equipment, which refueled aircraft right on the parking apron. The chassis was the three-axle GAZ-AAA truck derived from the GAZ-AA type. Vehicles of this kind made up an unobtrusive but essential part of the support of field airfields, and they are a rewarding subject for aviation dioramas, because they add life and scale to a scene with an aircraft.
The key to a good result with photo-etch is preparing the surface. Metal is smooth and paint merely sits on it without preparation. Once the parts are cut out and cleaned up, therefore, wash them in warm water with a drop of detergent, rinse them, let them dry and apply a thin coat of primer for metal. Only then paint. The hoses and brackets stand out if you add a fine wash into the hollows after the base color and bring the edges up lightly. Tanker vehicles tended to be dirty from fuel and dust, so restrained weathering around the filler necks pays off.
The set is an accessory for a plastic kit, which is not included in the package. It is supplied unpainted; glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
