1:48 Curtiss Hawk 81 A-2 (A.V.G.) camouflage mask

1:48 painting masks for the Curtiss Hawk 81 A-2 - A.V.G. (AML)

Self-adhesive painting masks from AML for applying the camouflage scheme of the Curtiss Hawk 81 A-2 fighter in the finish of the American Volunteer Group A.V.G. (the Flying Tigers) with an airbrush. The masks follow the boundaries of the color fields exactly and give a crisp, clean division between the shades without freehand masking. The set is cut to fit a model in 1:48 scale and is intended for Curtiss Hawk 81 A-2 models.

The real subject

The Hawk 81 A-2 was the export variant of the Curtiss fighter (related to the P-40B/C) used in 1941 and 1942 by the American Volunteer Group A.V.G. in China. The machines became famous for the camouflage with brown and green fields and above all for the iconic shark mouth on the nose. It is precisely the faithful boundaries of that camouflage that the masks make easier.

Use

• Spray the lighter of the upper shades and let it dry through.
• Transfer the masks according to the plan and press them down onto the surface.
• Spray the second shade and take the masks off once it is dry.
• For a softer edge the mask can be lifted very slightly.

Who the set is for

• Modelers building the famous machines of the Flying Tigers.
• Builders who want exact and repeatable boundaries.
• Those who prefer an airbrush to freehand masking.

This is an accessory for an airbrush, not a kit. Paints, glue and the model are not included in the package.
