de Havilland DH.110 Sea Vixen FAW.2 1:48 from Trumpeter is a plastic kit of the British carrier-borne twin-boom all-weather fighter.
Responsibility details are not available.
This injection-molded plastic kit represents the British carrier fighter de Havilland Sea Vixen in the FAW.2 version, marked by its pair of tail booms and its offset cockpit. It is modern tooling in the rewarding 1:48 scale. Given its size and its part breakdown, the model suits modelers with experience of building jets rather than newcomers.
The Sea Vixen was a postwar British twin-engine all-weather carrier fighter with a pair of tail booms, developed by de Havilland. It served with the Fleet Air Arm from the end of the 1950s to the beginning of the 1970s. The improved FAW.2 version carried air-to-air missiles and strike armament and had reworked tail booms with greater fuel capacity than the earlier version. It was one of the first British carrier fighters designed primarily around missile armament.
Paint and fit the cockpit and the landing gear bays before closing the fuselage; on a twin-boom layout, take care to align the booms correctly. Glue the plastic with liquid cement for plastic and the clear parts with canopy glue. Apply a primer; a combination of a dark gray upper surface and a light underside is typical of a naval aircraft, and an airbrush will give clean transitions. Lay a gloss coat before the decals.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
