1:48 de Havilland DH.110 Sea Vixen FAW.2 (inside and outside masks) is a self-adhesive Montex masking set for the glazing frames. It is not a kit, but an accessory for a 1:48 model.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of shaped self-adhesive masks for the transparent parts of the Sea Vixen carrier fighter in the FAW.2 version. The name gives masks for the inside and the outside, which makes sense on this type: the cockpit canopy is clearly visible into the model, and frames left unpainted from inside would spoil the overall impression.
The Sea Vixen was derived from the de Havilland DH.110 design and was a twin-engine carrier fighter of the Fleet Air Arm with a distinctive twin-boom tail. The crew consisted of the pilot under an offset canopy and a systems operator placed in the fuselage to his right, with a small window of his own. Compared with the earlier FAW.1, the FAW.2 version brought extended leading-edge sections of the tail booms with additional fuel, and revised armament.
The procedure is simple, but it rewards patience. First wash the glazing in lukewarm water with detergent and let it dry. Apply the inside masks before the fuselage is closed, spray the interior shade and only then glue the transparent part in. Then apply the outside masks, press them down all the way round and move on to the primer. Cover the remaining areas of the glazing with tape or liquid mask. Once the camouflage is sprayed, take the masks off shortly after it has dried, while the paint is still pliable.
There are masking templates only in the package. The kit, paints and glue are not part of it.
