A photo-etched metal detail set, deep wading trunks for the Cromwell and Centaur tanks, in 1:48 scale from Aber. An accessory for a plastic kit, not a model of a tank.
Responsibility details are not available.
A photo-etched metal set for completing a plastic kit of the British Cromwell and Centaur tanks in 1:48 scale from Aber. It holds the parts for the sheet-metal deep wading trunks, that is the tall chimney-like trunks above the engine compartment, which during a landing kept the intake and the exhaust from flooding. Thin metal makes it possible to capture the real thickness of the sheet and the flanges, which is not possible in plastic.
The Cromwell and the Centaur were British cruiser tanks based on a shared hull. The Cromwell, with its Rolls-Royce Meteor engine, was among the fastest Allied tanks of its day, while the Centaur used a less powerful engine and served above all in support and training roles. Vehicles landed from assault craft were given temporary wading trunks, which were thrown off once they had come ashore.
Nip the parts from the etched fret and clean them up, make the bends on a bending tool or along the scored lines and glue them with cyanoacrylate glue. Degrease the metal before painting and go over it with a base coat for adhesion. In 1:48 scale the parts are very small, so sharp tweezers and good lighting pay off.
An accessory for a plastic kit. The model itself, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
