An OWL decal sheet in 1:48 scale for the night fighter Dornier Do 215 B, the third part of a multi-part series of sheets.
Responsibility details are not available.
A decal sheet in 1:48 scale from the brand OWL for plastic models of the twin-engine Dornier Do 215 B in the night fighter form. According to the name it is the third part of the series of sheets that OWL releases for this type; each part brings different markings, so they can be combined or collected one by one. The sheet is an accessory to a kit.
The Dornier Do 215 was derived from the Do 17 Z bomber. The fundamental change was the exchange of the radial engines for liquid-cooled inline ones, thanks to which the type received slimmer engine nacelles and a different character to the forward part. Originally it was an export version, but the production machines ended up in home service. Some of the aircraft were rebuilt for night fighting: the nose was closed up and received fixed armament and equipment for finding a target in the dark. It is precisely this role that the word Nachtjäger designates.
Prepare a smooth glossy finish under the decals, otherwise air will be trapped under the film and the character will stay framed. Hold the decal in lukewarm water only briefly, lay it against its place and let it slide off the paper backing. Around engraved panel lines, panels and fairings a softener helps; apply it in small amounts and let the decal dry undisturbed between them. Go over the dried area with clear varnish, so that the gloss is unified and the edge of the film disappears, and only then carry on with washes and pigments.
This is a decal sheet, not a kit. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package.
