It holds a replacement nose section of the fuselage with the correct shape and a pitot tube for a model of the American Convair F-102 Delta Dagger interceptor. It is an accessory that is installed in place of the part from a plastic kit – the model itself is not in the package. Before you buy, we recommend checking the match with the model you are building.
The Convair F-102 Delta Dagger was an American interceptor with a delta wing, intended for engaging bombers at long range. Production machines were given a fuselage reworked according to the area rule, which has the characteristic narrowing at the waist and a bulge behind the wing – the shape accuracy of the fuselage and the nose is therefore often discussed with models of this type. It carried its armament in a weapons bay in the fuselage, and the radar was placed in the nose. The aircraft served with the US Air Force and later with a foreign user as well.
Before you start cutting the plastic, hold the resin part against the fuselage of the kit and mark the cut exactly with a pencil. Cut with something to spare and fit it in afterwards rather than taking too much away. Wash the resin with lukewarm water and detergent, cut the casting block off with a saw and level the surface on sandpaper laid on a flat board – that way you ensure the joint will be tight. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue, the joint is leveled with filler and sanded down wet with respiratory protection. Fit the thin pitot tube at the very end of the build, because it breaks off easily. Before finishing, spray the whole transition over with primer and check it against the light to see whether any grooves have stayed behind.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The kit, glue, filler and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
