F-105 Thunderchief - pitot tube 1:48 (Aires/Quickboost)

A resin detail set, not an airplane kit. The set brings a precisely cast pitot tube for the American Republic F-105 Thunderchief fighter-bomber in 1:48 scale.

What the set offers

The casting replaces the fragile plastic pitot tube part with a more faithful and more accurately shaped resin piece. The slender tube on the nose is one of the first parts to get damaged on a finished model, so a stronger and better casting pays off.

Tips for working with resin

  • First wash the parts in lukewarm soapy water to remove any mold release residue
  • Cut the casting blocks off with a saw; do not snap them off
  • Bond them with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue); plastic cement does not hold on resin
  • Protect your airways while sanding and do not breathe in the resin dust

This is a resin detail set, not a model. The base kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.

No. This is a resin detail set with a pitot tube. The base F-105 model has to be bought separately.

A sensor for measuring the airspeed, usually placed on the nose of an aircraft. On a model it is a fine and easily damaged part.

Cyanoacrylate glue (super glue) only. Ordinary plastic cement does not hold on resin.
