A detailed resin accessory from Reskit: the exhaust nozzles of the F414 engines for the Super Hornet in 1:48 scale, in the Type 1 version and shaped for kits from Revell. Nozzles for the kits of individual manufacturers differ in how they seat into the tail, which is why Reskit makes separate sets, and this one is intended exactly for the Revell kit, not for kits of other brands. It is not a model of an airplane in its own right but a replacement for kit parts.
The Super Hornet has served with the US Navy since the turn of the millennium, where it gradually replaced older carrier types. A pair of General Electric F414 engines gives it its performance and its characteristic tail with two massive nozzles, whose internal structure is very pronounced on the real machine, so on a model it is a rewarding place to detail.
After washing and cleaning the castings up, spray a primer and lay the metallic shades onto a smooth, ideally glossy base, where they come out better. Treat the inside of the nozzles with a lighter tone and a dark wash, and the outer rings with burnt shades; a fine pigment will add the traces of soot. Glue them with cyanoacrylate only once they are painted.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted; the base kit of the aircraft is not included in the package. The version is for Revell kits and need not seat on kits from other manufacturers.
