The set adds a sharply cut rear wing by the Japanese aerodynamics brand Voltex to a model. The size version 180 cm is given in the name, that is one of the wider forms. According to the name the package mixes three materials, and that matches the way the wing is built in reality too: a bulky profile, thin endplates and slender uprights that have to take the load.

Where this shape came from

Voltex is among the best-known names of the Japanese time attack scene. Its wings appeared on circuit Mitsubishis, Subarus and Hondas and became the mark of this whole style of building. The Type 5 form has a high-set profile with a pronounced crease along its upper surface, so it is lost neither from the side nor seen from behind on a model.

How to work with the wing

The metal uprights take more than resin, so assemble the load-bearing part first and only then seat the profile on the finished frame. For metal reach for cyanoacrylate glue, and roughen the mating surfaces with abrasive paper beforehand. Both the shade of the body and a semi-matte dark surface will do in terms of color; the endplates are often left in a different shade than the profile. Make the bends slowly and keep checking the right angle against a plate, otherwise the wing will show crooked on the model.
